When You Calm Down, the World Around You Does Too: Inside Our Identity and Wellness Equine Therapy Workshop

On March 21st, The Lemonade Circle headed out to Small Acres Ranch for something a little different. Our Identity and Wellness Equine Therapy Workshop was a full day of self-discovery,

honest conversation, and the kind of lessons you can only learn when there is a 1,000-pound animal reflecting your energy right back at you.

The girls started the day with breathing exercises to calm their nervous systems before approaching the horses. What happened next was one of those moments that just stops you. As the girls settled into stillness, the horses settled too. They became calmer, more curious, more trusting. No words needed. The horses simply responded to what the girls were putting out.

That is a lesson that goes far beyond a ranch. When we learn to regulate ourselves, the world around us responds differently. Our relationships change. Our environments shift. It is something our girls hear us talk about, but on March 21st, they felt it firsthand.

From there, the girls worked on art masks. On the outside, they decorated them to show how they present themselves to the world. On the inside, they revealed what lives beneath the surface: their emotions, their identity, the parts of themselves they do not always share out loud. The conversations that arose from that activity were among the most beautiful and honest we have ever witnessed at a Lemonade Circle event.

We also held circle time, where the girls talked openly about school, home life, emotional wellness, boundaries, and protecting their peace. These are conversations that matter. Safe spaces where girls can speak without judgment are not a luxury. They are a necessity.

And because we always make sure to end well, we closed out the day with street tacos from Tacos El Chilango and lemonade. 🍋

A huge thank you to Small Acres Ranch and to Dexter, Jenna, and Eliana for pouring into our girls and making the day what it was. And a special thank you to Kim with Cowgirl Grit for bringing her own magic to the experience. You all made this day something our girls will carry with them.

This is the work. This is why it matters.
