My Hair, My Voice, and My Choice: Advocating for the Crown Act

The Lemonade Circle girls are stepping up and making some serious noise in the fight against hair discrimination. Last year, The Lemonade Circle joined forces with the San Antonio Chapter of The Links, Incorporated to celebrate the International Day of the Girl. Together, they delved deep into discussions about how to use their voices to advocate for change, specifically by fighting to ensure the Crown Act becomes a reality right here in San Antonio! It's time to say "No!" to hair discrimination and let everyone know that our hair is our choice, our voice, and our power.

The couldn't think of a better way to kick things off Women's History Month than by making HERstory right here in our city. Our group attended the City Council Comment Session on Wednesday, March 1, 2023. Our Lemonade Circle members were ready to shine and share their hair discrimination stories in front of the City Council.

We firmly believe that every girl and woman should have the freedom to rock their natural hair, protective styles, or whatever hairstyle makes them feel confident and fabulous.

The Lemonade Circle girls are standing up, speaking out, and fighting for the right to express themselves authentically, without fear of judgment or discrimination. We're breaking down barriers, challenging norms, and demanding change. Our voices will be heard, and our message will be clear: My hair, my voice, and my choice!
